Our Story
Hi, I’m Lonnie, and fashion has always been a huge part of my life. Growing up in South Florida, I fell in love with style and design at a young age, and it only grew stronger as I began traveling the world. From the mountains in Peru to the vibrant markets of Marrakech, every place I visited introduced me to unique products, memorable designs, and the incredible craftsmanship of local artisans. As I traveled, I shopped—probably more than I should have—and discovered some of my favorite pieces from all over the world, pieces that brought joy, comfort, and a bit of adventure to my life. And during the pandemic, I explored far too many online vendors too. Then came the trip that changed everything. On one of my adventures, I found myself in the heart of Marrakech, where I fell in love with not only the city’s vibrant culture but also its timeless artistry. I stumbled upon a local shop in the Medina and met Zaki, a true expert in Moroccan textiles and rugs. His passion for the artistry and his deep connection to the local artisans was clear from the start. I was captivated by the beauty and history of Moroccan craftsmanship, and Zaki’s knowledge and kindness made it all the more fascinating. I bought my first Moroccan rug from him, and what started as a purchase turned into daily conversations about weaving, textiles, and the rich stories behind each piece. Over time, those conversations turned into something more. Zaki and I connected over our shared passion for design and craftsmanship, and we began to imagine how we could share these beautiful finds with others. We decided to combine my love for global treasures and Zaki’s deep-rooted knowledge of Moroccan artistry to create Haute Globetrot—an online space where we could bring the best of our travels, things I love for my travels, and our favorite finds to you. But that’s not the only thing that grew. As we worked together, we fell in love, and Marrakech became more than just a stop on my travels—it became home. I decided to stay, and together, Zaki and I have built Haute Globetrot as both a business and a reflection of our journey. It’s truly a labor of love, and we’re proud to run this as a family business. Everything you see on Haute Globetrot is carefully chosen, whether it’s a beautiful Moroccan rug, a piece of jewelry from a trusted artisan, or a unique find from one of my favorite spots around the world or the internet.
