Couture Measurement Guide

# Measurement Description
1 Around Chest Measure around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms.
2 Around Stomach Measure around the widest part of the stomach area.
3 Around Waist Measure around the natural waistline, typically above the belly button.
4 Neck to Waist Measure vertically from the base of the neck (collarbone) to the waistline.
5 Around Neck Measure around the base of the neck where a collar would sit.
6 Neck to Shoulder Measure from the base of the neck to the tip of the shoulder.
7 Shoulder to Wrist Measure from the shoulder tip down to the wrist bone.
8 Armhole to Wrist Measure from the armpit down to the wrist.
9 Around Arm Measure around the fullest part of the upper arm (bicep area).
10 Around Hand Measure around the widest part of the hand, excluding the thumb.
11 Around Wrist Measure around the wrist bone.
12 Around Hip Measure around the fullest part of the hips and buttocks.
13 Around Thigh Measure around the fullest part of the thigh.
14 Around Leg (Shin) Measure around the widest part of the lower leg (calf area).
15 Around Ankle Measure around the narrowest part of the ankle.
16 Seat to Ankle Measure vertically from the seat (buttocks) to the ankle bone.
17 Knee to Ankle Measure from the center of the knee down to the ankle bone.
18 Waist to Ankle Measure from the waistline down to the ankle bone.
19 Height Measure from the top of the head down to the floor, standing straight.
20 Shoulder to Shoulder Measure across the back from one shoulder tip to the other.
21 Across Back Measure across the back from one armpit to the other.
22 Around Knee Measure around the center of the knee cap.
23 Suit Length Measure from the top of the shoulder down to the desired suit length.

Measurement Tips:

  • Assistance: For accuracy, have someone assist you while taking measurements.

  • Posture: Stand straight and relaxed, with feet together, during measurements.

  • Clothing: Wear form-fitting clothing or undergarments to ensure precise measurements.

  • Consistency: Use the same measuring tape throughout to maintain consistency.
